How Pairs Qualify

Qualification for the Master Final is straightforward but demanding: accumulate enough ranking points across the full tour season to finish in the top tier of the standings. Typically, the top 8 to 16 pairs qualify, depending on the year's format.

Consistency is king. A pair that reaches three or four semifinals throughout the season is more likely to qualify than one that wins a single tournament and flames out everywhere else. The Master Final rewards sustained excellence, not one-hit wonders.

The race for qualifying spots creates its own drama as the season winds down. Pairs on the bubble face enormous pressure in the final regular-season events, and the math gets obsessive: "If we reach the quarters here and they lose in the second round there, we're in."

The Format
