Coello and Tapia Make It Eleven in Düsseldorf
Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia won the CUPRA Germany Premier Padel P2 on Sunday, beating Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz 6-2 7-6(5) in 1 hour 23 minutes. It is their 11th title of 2026, their third in a row after the Paris Major and Rotterdam P2, and their first ever in Germany.
The second set was the closest it got. Stupaczuk and Sanz broke back and served for it at 6-5, but the world #1s broke again and took the tie-break 7-5. "It's our first title in Germany. Everything about this week was special," Coello said.
This is no longer a title race; it is a procession. Galán and Chingotto lost to Stupaczuk/Sanz in the semifinals, and nobody else has found an answer for three weeks running.
The women's final deserves equal billing. Martina Calvo and Claudia Fernández, the No. 4 seeds, beat Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero 6-3 6-0 in 68 minutes. It is their second title of 2026, after London P1.
It was also payback. Sánchez and Ustero beat them in the Roland Garros final, and Calvo admitted as much afterwards: "In Paris, Ari and Andrea played a perfect match. This time it was our turn." Sánchez/Ustero had beaten the world #1s Gemma Triay and Delfina Brea twice in three weeks, so a 6-0 second set says plenty.
Next up is Milano P1, which starts today. Calvo and Fernández arrive as the pair nobody wants to draw, and Coello and Tapia arrive chasing a fourth straight title.

Did You Know?
Padel Galis, the Valencia court manufacturer behind this week's Saudi deal, says it has installed more than 10,000 courts in over 85 countries. It also claims to produce more than 5,000 courts a year, which works out to roughly 14 new courts every single day.
Player Spotlight
Claudia Fernández
Fernández was born in 2008, which makes her one of the youngest names in the women's draw. Together with Martina Calvo, she won the Germany P2 as the No. 4 seeds. That is their second title of 2026, after London P1.
The pair had lost the Roland Garros final to the same opponents, Sánchez and Ustero, then won the rematch 6-3 6-0 in 68 minutes. That is a lot of composure from a teenager, so watch her in Milano.
Hot Take
The 2026 calendar is unsustainable, and Premier Padel will pay for it in November. Three events in three weeks, then a World Cup, then four more tournaments is a schedule built for television, not bodies. Nieto is already out, and Galán looked tired in Düsseldorf. Premier Padel needs to cut the calendar before the players who sell the sport are the ones missing from it. The title race will be decided by who is fresh in December, not by who is best in October.
